Kernot bridge

It had started as one shack, a tiny stall for the busy months of summer, put up by Leptin as a traveler’s eatery. She enjoyed being away from any village, and loved the lucrative spot she had found.

She sold berry pies, vine juice and mushroom custards.

Her following fortune was not lost on a fellow entrepreneur, who quickly set up a neighboring business, unashamedly taking up half the road near the bridge. “Ulcoste’s Better Pies” was an immediate success, if not an original one, which later expanded into an inn.

Naturally someone else thought it appropriate to join in. For some reason though, “Ternuf’s Saddles and Shoes” was not the success he had hoped for, but he persisted.

The bridge sees less traffic now, particularly since Ternuf was keen on building sideways right across the bridge, making the crossing near impossible. Travelers now need to go through Ternuf’s shop and out the back, but he insists on allowing this only if an item is bought, which seldom happens.

Getting the beetles through is the tricky part.
